Hey everyone! Well, this should be a relatively short post in terms of writing...they SWAMP you with orientation meetings, collaborations, educational movies, etc. Yikes. In any case, I'm here and it's beautiful-haha and so is that ac system! Yes, Imp, I have seen the gnats. They are everywhere. BUT it's well worth the annoyance. :)
I don't really know where to start; the last week or so has been jam-packed. (Whoa, that is odd-I haven't even been gone one full week-it certainly feels as though I had, though) In any case, I arrived to an incredibly welcoming and fun family, compliments of the best uncle in the ENTIRE world (dispute fruitlessly if you must), my Uncle Barrett. His sister Penny is the sweetest person and her husband Vince is wonderful. With them I saw Richmond, giant memorials of Jackson & Lee (although I have not yet been out to the Jackson shrine where his arm is buried in Spottsylvania County), visited my amazing friend-since-pre-school Cass who just transfered to Virginia State, drank lots of sweet tea, had some southern speaking lessons, and had a wonderful tour of le south! So now I am moved in and undergoing my second orientation for my second college. Haha up to about an hour ago I hadn't met anyone from CA specifically, but all of a sudden my transfer orientation group links up w/ another one and there's this super funny guy and after a few moments I spurratically blurted out, "Where are you from??!!" and he was like, "San Diego" and my jaw dropped and all I could say was, "No. Shit." So basically, the first and only person I've met at this school from CA is from La Mesa...a little odd, right? Haha but in any case, people are nice here and I'm really excited for saturday b/c my friend Amy moves in then. (Returning students don't move in until then.)
SO! That's about it here, but I have LOTS and lots of pictures! Heeeeeere we go!

so I thought this was hilariously Texas; this was from my stopover flight in Houston. It might be kinda hard to see, but note the cowboy hats, boots, and rhinestone-studded boots. Yeeeeee-haw!

Ohhhhhhh, Confederate Whitehouse in Richmond. How we do love thee. (This is my 1st day in VA!)

Me and Cass at her new school, VSU. It's almost, quite literally, ghetto. Cass, please don't get shot.

The South: The only place where you can get good sweet tea from a fast food chain for a dollar. Yeeeesssss <3 America

Me at move-in! This is my hall. Virginia Hall. All girls, with the RA, mostly freshmen. No, I didn't sign up for this, but it's really pretty cool.

A random pathway

Seaco, the cafeteria

Some administration building

Class building w/ many trees

The outer rim of the campus. As you can see, it's all residential directly surrounding the campus...as borat would say, "It's nice!"

Trees on a campus!

Vines on a sign!

Snakes on a Plane! I kid, I kid. ;)

Another entrance (there are about 4 entrances to the campus, though this is the prettiest)

A random pretty dorm

And lastly, another welcome sign from back in the Mary Washington College day. (The college was changed to a university because it separated its self into numerous colleges, such as a college of letters and science, etc.)
And theeeeerrrreee you have it!! Life here is good and now that I've emptied my camera I'll be able to take some more...it'll also be really interesting to put up the pictures through the seasons so that I can look back and view all of the changes. (I've heard that fall in VA is incredible). Love to everyone reading this and love to Jer-I can't even believe I'll see him in a couple of weeks. Haha-that's weird to me. It'll be nice, though. Then we can explore Fredericksburg like we did last time! (It's such a fun place to walk around-I literally, today, walked through the battlefield from the Battle of Fredericksburg and saw where General Cobb fell after fatally receiving huge shards of wood in his leg from an explosion that tore apart a house.) There's SO much history to learn in this town, sometimes it feels slightly overwhelming. And then I'm like, suck it up and keep learning. On Saturday, Amy and I are ordering bbq to have delivered to one of our rooms and break it in after a day of exploration through the old cemetaries and historical disctirct!
It really is incredible-haha-who would have ever thought I'd end up here?

| every new beginning comes from some other beginning's end... |
Here I am-I sleep for 3.5 hours and it's up and getting showered for my day of travel for me. I can't really type too much b/c I still have to find a way to fit in my socks and my pair of sneakers and every minute of sleep is now precious, seeing as I didn't really sleep last night to the mothahfuckin' snakes on the mothahfuckin' plane. Oh, Brent and Imp, how much fun we had. (Naps on a seat, snakes on a vein, pizza in my pants...oh merciful, sweet lord, the send-offs were endless.) So this is a post to say...a few things: I don't believe I'll have the internet unless my Aunt Penny has a router, in which case I'll be updating on wednesday when I move into my dorm...I hope this is ok for everyone; I'm going to take as many pictures as possible throughout my trip to chronic(WHAT!-cles) everything that went on/the people/the places that I encountered! (I am charging the camera batteries as I type.) I would also like to say before the biggest aspect of the post, that I love Sacha Baron Cohen. Yes, the Borat movie trailer links are on my toolbar on my laptop as some of you saw tonight, and no, I am not ashamed. November third is much too far away. (This suit is NOT BLACK.)
;)
The biggest thing that I want to talk about is the fact that so many friends and family members are so incredibly supportive. Even, recently, my own father. (I know you don't read this, but thanks, Dad. I love you.) Dinner tonight with my mom, brother, and his girlfriend made me so sad that I'll be leaving. A great call from my Aunt Angie and my Uncle Barrett just saying they love me and they wish me a safe flight tomorrow made me so happy that I" wanted to cry. Last-minute visits from Lily, Collin, Lauren, Nicole, Brent, Bren, Imp, Sabrina, Scuffy, Alex, Laura, Steve, and Andrew reminded me (like I could ever forget) just how incredible all of my friends are and how much they mean to me. Cheesy? It sounds like it, but it really is the truth. Thanks to all of you (including Tony for the talk tonight) and I'm so incredibly glad to call you my friends. My return ticket is for December 15, but, as I've discussed w/ some of you (and this is open to any of you), you are free to come and visit-it's beautiful and I already have one sure-fire visitor for the snow in early December. Ms. Keepers, I await your arrival.
;)
My best of luck to anyone else leaving for school-Lily, Lauren, Nicole, even my darling Cass who's already at VSU-you'll all do amazingly.
Much love and I'll be in touch,
Me
She would never say where she came from Yesterday don't matter if it's gone While the sun is bright Or in the darkest night No one knows She comes and goes
Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday Who could hang a name on you? When you change with every new day Still I'm gonna miss you...
Don't question why she needs to be so free She'll tell you it's the only way to be She just can't be chained To a life where nothing's gained And nothing's lost At such a cost
Goodbye, Ruby Tuesday Who could hang a name on you? When you change with every new day Still I'm gonna miss you...
There's no time to lose, I heard her say Catch your dreams before they slip away Dying all the time Lose your dreams And you will lose your mind In life unkind

| this makes sense... |
the Wit (57% dark, 23% spontaneous, 10% vulgar) | your humor style: CLEAN | COMPLEX | DARK
You like things edgy, subtle, and smart. I guess that means you're probably an intellectual, but don't take that to mean pretentious. You realize 'dumb' can be witty--after all isn't that the Simpsons' philosophy?--but rudeness for its own sake, 'gross-out' humor and most other things found in a fraternity leave you totally flat.
I guess you just have a more cerebral approach than most. You have the perfect mindset for a joke writer or staff writer.
Your sense of humor takes the most thought to appreciate, but it's also the best, in my opinion.
You probably loved the Office. If you don't know what I'm talking about, check it out here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/theoffice/.

Haha oh, thank god. (A quick P.S. to Lauren: I'm sorry I laughed at your reaction when the cat died in Boondock Saints the other night...I suppose this enlightens you to my thought process...haha, like there was any doubt)
